International Yoga Day Celebration 2018



           International Day of Yoga is celebrated on 21st June.  Our Indian Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested the date of 21st June to celebrate International Day of Yoga as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.  And it was declared unanimously by the United Nations General assembly.
           

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm.  It was presided by Mann. Hanumantaraoji, Treasurer of VRM & VK.  The programme started at 8 am.  It was compered by Smt. Issakkiammal, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.
           
“Prayer is our powerful contact with the greatest force in the Universe”.  We initiated our programme by an invocation sung by Sri.Manikumar, Music Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.  “Welcome enters as guests and leave as friends:.  Smt. S.Nithya, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, Teachers and the students. 
To highlight the benefits of Yoga, students performed Surya Namaskar, various Asanas like Padmasana, Vajrasana, Vakrasana and Vrukshasana.  They performed pranayamas for improving their concentration in studies and day to day activities.  The performance was lead by Smt. Vijaya Nirmala, Physical Education Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.  She explained the benefits of asanas.

           Smt.R.Thanga Janaki, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya shared the importance of the Yoga Day.  She explained the various branches of Yoga and how it helped the man’s health and well being.

            “Yoga gives a holistic healing power to the body, mind and soul”. “Speech is power.  Speech is to persuade and convert”. Mann. Hanumantaraoji, as the president of the programme addressed the gathering.  He spoke about the significance of Yoga. He appreciated the students performance and they needed to practice it daily.

            “The word “Thanks” expresses the extreme gratitude, humility and Understanding”.  Vote of thanks was proposed by Kumari. V.K.Bowya, Teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.

            The programme ended in harmonious way at 8.45 am with “Kendra Prayer.
