Guru Purnima, the festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers was celebrated in our school at 3.00 p.m on the 23rd of july 2021. The full moon day in the month of Ashadth of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as guru purnima. This day is also marked to pay our tribute to the great sage Vedavyasa who compiled the Vedas, eighteen puranas, the Mahabharatha and the Brahma Suthras.
The
programme was inaugurated by chanting 3 ‘om’ karas followed by the lighting of
the lamp by Mann.Praveenji, All India Treasurer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial
and Vivekananda Kendra. Smt. Uma selvi, Teacher of VKV invoked the divine
blessings of the almighty by an invocation song. The welcome address was
delivered by Smt.Geetha, Teacher of VKV.
“Guru is inspiration,guru is aspiration”. The teachers chanted guru stotram lead by Smt.Sariga, Vice Principal of VKV, Smt. Nallammal and Smt.Anuradha , Teachers of VKV to offer their salutations to the Lord, their spiritual guru.
The
presidential address was delivered by Mann.Pravenji, All India Treasurer of
Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. He explained vividly the
meaning of ‘Guru’ and their role in bringing up the progress in the society. He
insisted the teachers to carry out the tradition to their future generation. He
brought to light the three stages of seva as propounded by Swami Vivikananda 1)
to provide the basic needs 2) to provide educational survival to the upcoming
children ie., they must earn the living by their own livelihood 3) to give
guidance by which the people understand “Who am I?”. He instructed the teachers
to aspire to be a teacher apart from their working hours. He quoted Sri
Ramakrishna who chose Swami Vivekananda as his vehicle to spread the culture of
“Sanadhana dharma”. He advised the teachers to follow the ideas said in the
lectures and work on it in their own way.
“Our
obligations to our country never cease but with our own lives”. On this special
occasion, we expressed our patriotic fervour by singing a patriotic song led by
Sri.Manikumar, Teacher of VKV.
The
teachers offered their salutations to their spiritual guru by offering the
flowers.
“A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles”. Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt.Sumathi, Teacher of VKV, to all the noble souls who took part in the celebration. The programme was concluded by Kendra prarthana.
