Sports Day Celebration 2018


“Success is where preparation and opportunity meet”.

         
  Sports play an important role in every one’s life especially in students’.  Everyone should involve themselves in the sports activity.  Sports are necessary because it brings physical and mental fitness to the person.  As we all know that, living a relaxed and comfort life we need a sound mind and sound body.
         Annual sports day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, on 24 February 2018.

  Master of ceremony was by H.Aswini of IX Standard.  The programme began with an invocation song sung by VI standard students. The welcome address was delivered by S.Subashini of IX Standard.  The importance of the day was presented by Smt.Thanga Janaki, V.K.V.Teacher. Sri.Venu Gopal, Deputy Superintendant of Police, Kanyakumari, was our Chief Guest who addressed the gathering.  

                 He emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s life.  It plays a vital role in our life as it keeps us healthy, wealthy and active.  He spoke about his personal experience.  He instructed the students to participate in all the sports events, which will be useful in their future. 




                 He advised the students to avoid watching television and using mobile phones.  He insisted the students to take good, healthy, nutritious food.  He instructed the students to maintain physical and mental health in well manner.  It brings the highest level of confidence in their life.  He also applauded the Principal Shri.S.Abraham Lingom for the school’s outstanding achievements.

 

            Shri.K.Raju Kumar Sir read out the name list of the winners.  The Chief Guest awarded the shields and the certificates to the winners of the various sports events.



 
            Our Principal presented a memento to the honourable Chief Guest.  The Sports day ended with vote of thanks followed by Kendra Prayer.

Mother's Day Celebration - 2018


“God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers”

     Mother’s day is a day dedicated to all mothers, celebrated every year to honour the mother and motherhood.  Every mother plays a great role in the life of their kids from giving birth to making them a well human being.  It is only mother who shapes the child’s character and then whole life.

 Shri. Rama Krishna Paramahamsa was born on February 20, 1836.  His wife was Saradha Devi. He was the Guru of Swami Vivekananda.  He treated all the women including his wife as a ‘Mother”.  So in our school, the birth anniversary of Shri.Rama Krishna Paramahamsa is celebrated as Mother’s Day.

  

     The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honourable Chief Guest Smt. T.Viji, Teacher, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Agasteeswaram and the Special Guest Smt. Janaki Pushpam,Incharge of Tirunelveli branch, RDP, Vivekananda Kendra.

     Master of Ceremony was by Smt. S.Prema, V.K.V. Teacher.  The invocation song was sung by Smt.Shantha Kumari, V.K.V. Teacher.  The welcome address was delivered by Smt.Geetha, V.K.V. Teacher.  The importance of the day was presented by Smt.Usha, Teacher of V.K.V.  Smt.Rani Rathna Kumari got the first prize in music competition.  She sang the melodious song infront of the audience, which gave her the first prize.
 
     Some of the mothers who participated in the competition and games shared their experience.  We had an eminent personality Smt.T.Viji, Teacher of Govt. Hr. Sec. School in Agasteeswaram, as our Chief Guest who addressed the gathering.  She recalled the poetic lines of Mahakavi Bharathiyar and spoke about the various competitions conducted in our school on account of Mother’s Day celebration. 
She expressed her views about Shri Rama Krishna Paramahamsa’s qualities who treated all the women including his wife as a mother.  She encouraged the mothers by narrating various incidents that happened in Australia and Japan.  Then she explained about the love of Edison’s mother and Veera Shivaji’s mother.  She exhibited Gandhiji’s promise to his mother.  She advised the mothers to spend their time with their children when they return from the school.  She instructed them not to give electronic items.  She insisted them to cultivate the habit of saving money, to develop the habit of reading books.  So the children will develop the good values.  She emphasised the children to think positively and to establish the greatness of the school.

     Various competitions like Rangoli, Music competition, preparing healthy food, musical chair, lemon and spoon, number games were conducted in our school for mothers.  They participated enthusiastically and won prizes.  Venkateswari Teacher read out the name list of the winners in the competition.  Prizes were given away by the Chief Guest and the Special Guest. 

     Smt. Janaki Pushpam, Tirunelveli Branch, RDP, Vivekananda Kendra as our Special Guest addressed the gathering.  She explained the importance of Mathru Pooja.  She spoke about the Tamil poet Kavimani’s famous poetic lines about women.  She shared about Swamiji’s visit to Chicago.
  She spoke about the tradition of India, how the children got blessing from their parents and how rarely they are getting the blessing in the current era. She exhibited the Mathru Pooja performed by the Kings to the Tapsvi Saint.  She narrated a small incident about the appreciation of a mother. 
She instructed the mother to develop their children with humanity, discipline, good values and tradition.  She advised them to visit temples weekly once and asked them to serve the country.

     Mann. Aparna didi presented a memento to the honourable Chief Guest and the Special Guest.
    
     Shri. Manikumar Sir expressed his views about the importance of Mathru Pooja.  Our school students participated in Mathru Pooja and performed the pooja for their mothers by chanting the slogans infront of the Goddess Saraswathi.

   
  The Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. R.Selvi, VKV Teacher.  Finally the programme culminated with Shanthi Manthra.

Report of feliciation function of Man.Nivedita Didi

On the fine evening of 29th Jan 2018, we organized the felicitation ceremony to honour Man.Nivedita Didi who received “Padma sree”, the prestigious award for her selfless service to our Mother Bharath.  The celebration was initiated with the lightening of the lamp by Man. Nivedita Didi, Vice President of VRM & VK, respectable Principal Shri. S.Abraham Lingom and the honourable correspondent Shri. R.Subbiah Nadar.

            To fill the air with the divine blessings of our Almighty, an invocation song was sung by the alumni of our school.  Shri. S.Abraham Lingom, Principal extended a hearty welcome to the gathering.  Shri. R.Subbiah Nadar, the senior most teacher of our school shared his heart touching experience with Nivedita Didi.

            Smt. M.Nalarani highlighted the noble qualities present within her and expressed her happiness for having worked as a Balwadi teacher under her guidance.
            Smt. K.G.Sariga, Vice Principal of VKV shared the memorable moments and expressed that the days she had her school education under her guidance was really a golden period in her life and is still glad to be in her shade.
            
Smt. P.Jeya, Smt.K.R.Ishwarya the alumni of our school serving as teachers in this prestigious institution shared the golden memories of the by-gone days.



  Man.Nivedita Didi blessed our staff on that happiest occasion and shared her experience about the communal harmony that happened in a state in northeast India, which was put to an end by unity and love.  She dedicated the Padma Sree Award to Kendra and expressed whole-heartedly that the award she received was not given for her individual work but for the dedicated work of Karyakarthas in rendering their service to humanity.  She advised the staff to make the maximum and best use of time and opportunity to bring pride to their family, school and society and work unitedly with dedication and not calculate the work by monetary value.  She enlightened us to bring up the children with good character to spread the fragrance of our country.
           
Shri. R.Subbiah Nadar, Correspondent and Shri.S.Abraham lingom, Principal of our school presented the memento the Man. Nivedita Didi as a token of our love.
            Vote of thanks was proposed by Kum.S.Nithya,  teacher of our school.  The programme was compered by Kum.S.Kalaivani, teacher.  Finally the celebration culminated with Kendra Prayer.
