International Day of Yoga 2019- 2020



International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21st June since its inception in 2019. An International Day for Yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Yoga is a Physical, Mental and Spiritual practice originated in India.

            “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being:

            In our school, the International Yoga Day was celebrated in a grand manner. The programme began sharply at 8.00 a.m.
            We initiated our programme by an invocation song sung by the music teacher Sri.Manikumar of V.K.V.
           


The welcome address was presented by our teacher Smt.S.Prema. The performance was led by Smt.Vijaya Nirmala, Physical Education Teacher of V.K.V. The Students and Teachers performed the number of asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, UttanaMandukasana,Bhijangasana,Makarasana and Vakrasana. She also explained the benefits of each asana.


The importance of the day was delivered by our teacher Kum.Babitha. We had a great personality Smt.SKrishnamani, M.A.,M.Ed.,Headmistress of Govt.Hr.Sec.School, Virudhunager who addressed the audience.

She illustrated the benefits of Yoga. She spoke about the saint Pathanjali who introduced Yoga in eight steps. She instructed the students to practice Yoga. By that they would gain Physical, Mental and emotional development. She also insisted the students to practice Yoga in their daily life.

                        Aadharniya Nanda Kulkarniji presented the memento to our honourable Chief Guest Smt.S.Krishnamani.

                                 The vote of thanks was proposed by our teacher P.UmaSelvi. Finally the programme was concluded with our Kendra prarthana.

Teacher's Re-orientation Camp 2019 - 2020


Teachers’ Re-orientation is important to lay a foundation for the new teachers, mainly to provide them with concise and accurate information about “ how things are done here” to make them more comfortable in their teaching tenure.
            Orientation encourages the teachers’ confidence and helps them to adapt to the teaching environment. It contributes to more effective and productive teaching practices. It promotes communication between the new teachers and the experienced teachers.
            Teachers Re- Orientation Camp-2019 was conducted from 27th to 30th May 2019. It was the collective venture of VKV, Kanyakumari and VKV Vallioor. It was held at VKV in Kanyakumari.
            The camp was inaugurated by Man.Hanumanta Raoji, Treasurer, VRM & VK. All the four days, the teachers were enlightened by the session of Smt.Susheel K. Bejoy, Smt.Ranjetham and Smt. Indira Ramaraju.

            Smt.Indira Ramaraju expressed her views about “Refresh and Refrain”through power point presentation.
            Smt. Ranjetham exhibited her points of view about “Puzzle to puzzle” and she compared the nature with mathematics.
            In the afternoon session Smt.Susheel K Bejoy shared her views about “Spoken English and calegraphy”.
            Next some of the teachers presented various topics from the book “The story of Rock Memorial”.
            On 28th May 2019 Teachers Re-Orientation camp was started by a prayer song.
         
   The first session was initiated by Smt.Susheel K Bejoy. In this session, she explained “Teacher as Motivator”. She insisted that the teachers are like a model to the students.
            The next session started with Smt.Indira Ramaraju. She exhibited the “Environmental Sensitivity” through life skill activities. She also explained how to deal the children with simple activities during the class hour.
            In the afternoon session Sri.Manikumar sang a patriotic song..
            Next Smt.Ranjetham explained “Life skill mathematics with the help of simple things that we come across in day to day life. She also taught how to kindle the part of our brain by the art of rangoli.

            The day  ended with the presentation of the teachers by both V.K.V. Kanyakumari and Vallioor.
            On 29th May 2019, the day was initiated with the prayer song.
            On that day Smt.Ranjetham handled the morning session about “Inspiring easy maths at secondary level”. She explained that nature is also a part of maths. She also derived the angles between the two leaves.
            Next session Smt.Indira Ramaraju specified some valuable points related to “curriculum and syllabus into the class of science”. She advised the teacher to understand the level of the children. She shared a simple method to understand the concept of the topic.
           
A few activities were given to the teachers to enrich their creativity.
            At the end of the day the teachers presented their topic from the story of Rock Memorial.
            On 30th May 2019, we began the session with the prayer song sung by Vallioor teacher.
            In the morning session Smt. Susheel K Bejoy instructed the “Language skills in different level”. She stressed about the importance of the four skills namely “Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing”. She also motivated the teachers “Each one is the star, I must learn to shine”.
            Smt. Indira Ramaraju explained about “Life skill development”. She advised the teachers to have a thorough knowledge about the subject, effective communication, language efficiency, rehersal for teaching and  appreciate the child.

            In the concluding session Man. Krishna Moorthiji, Editor of Vivekavani lighted the lamp.
            The welcome address was delivered by Smt.P.Jeya. Some of our teachers shared their camp experience. The chief guest Man. Krishna Moorthyji addressed the gathering by his thought provoking speech. The three resource persons also shared their camp experience.
            The chief guest presented the memento to the resource persons. As a token of their love they also presented a gift to our principal.
        
    Vote of thanks was presented by Smt.G.Sariga, Vice Principal of VKV,Kanyakumari.
            The programme was concluded with Kendra Prarthana.
