SPORTS DAY REPORT-2016

Our
school’s activities extends to all fields including sports. We pay an unique
importance to sports. Sports day for the academic year 2015-2016 was celebrated
on 12/02/2016. It began in a fine afternoon session with invocation song by
students of 7th standard.
A sound body has a sound mind is a
common saying. To make the sports day a pleasant one came brother of IX
standard to present the welcome address in a sound manner.
Swami
Vivekananda says “What we want is vigour in the blood, strength in the nerves,
iron muscles and nerves of steel”. As we follow this saying of Swamiji our
physical and mental capability and strength have been improved. Importance of
sports day was delivered by brother of VIII standard.
Followed by importance of day was the
Chief Guest address. Shri. T.P.Thiraviaraj,B.Sc.,B.Ed.,M.P.Ed.,M.Phil.,Physical director,Govt.Hr.Sec.School, Agasteeswaram,District Inspector of Physical
Education delivered a mind blowing speech on event and need for sports. He
coated the example of a famous sports and Indian army legend “Major Dhyan
Chand”.
He said about an incident that happened between Adolf Hitler and Major
Dhyan Chand in Berlin Olympics. Hitler who was astonished by the 6 goals made
by Dhyan Chand out of the 8 goals made by Dhyan Chand out of the 8 goals
against German by 8-1, Hitler requested Dhyan Chand to join the German Army
with an offer of Field Marshal. After a minutes silence he replied in chaste
Hindi, “India is my country, I am fine there” and so he refused the offer of
Hitler.
The speech of the Chief Guest was such a fantastic one that made us to
feel the national spirit through Major Dhyan Chand.
Students
talents, performance and sports ability was awarded by prizes. ,Teacher
Smt.Saranya read out the winners and runners list and prizes were distributed
by the Chief Guest to them.
To make the day a memorable one,
Memento was given to the Chief Guest by
our honourable Principal .
Vote of thanks was presented by
brother of IX standard.
The program was ended up with Kendra
Prayer.
