GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION

The full moon day in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as Guru Purnima.  This day is celebrated as a mark of respect to the guru.  This day is celebrated in the sacred memory of the great sage Vyasa, the ancient saint who compiled the four Vedas, 18 puranas, the Mahabarata and the Srimad Bhagavath Gita.  The day is also known as Vyasa Purnima.

In our school, Guru Purnima day celebration was celebrated in a grand manner.  On that happiest occasion we initiated our programme by invocation sung by VIII Standard boys.  The welcome address was delivered by R.Abinaya of XI Standard.

     The importance of Guru Purnima in Tamil was presented by Sri Ram of IX Standard.  The girls of VIII Std sang a beautiful song about the Guru.  The importance of the day in English was presented by Vaishnavi of XI standard.

     Next Mann. Rekha Didi, Joint General Secretary of VRM & VK addressed the audience.  She expressed her views on Guru.  She said Guru plays an important role in moulding the life of a student.  She quoted Swamiji’s golden thoughts.  She illustrated the story of Ekalaiva as a good disciple.  She instructed the students to be dedicative to their teachers.  She reminded the word Shraddha which means faith in Guru.

                         

                          

     Kum. Ajitha, the teacher of VKV read out the scholarship name list and the rewards were given away by the Chief Guest.  The teacher who produced centum result in X and XII standard in the previous academic year were honoured by the Chief Guest.

           

                            

     The Chief Guest Swami Suradhavanam Murugadassji addressed the gathering.  He recalled the Tamil poet Rama Linga Adigalar.  He narrated the nature of human beings with a story.  He explained the philosophy of human nature.  He advised the students to be dedicated to their teachers.  He instructed the students to follow the principles of human.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Pradeepa of XI standard.  The programme was concluded by Kendra prayer.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

     Yoga is the most important for everyone’s life.  It helps in balancing the relationship between body and mind.  It is a spiritual practice used to meditate in the early morning to balance body and mind as well as remain close to the nature.
 

  In our school, the International Yoga Day was celebrated in a grand manner.  The programme began sharply at 8.00 am presided by resource person Mann. Hanumantaraoji, Treasurer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. The master of ceremony was presented by Smt. Thanga Janaki teacher.

      

    We initiated our programme by a invocation song.  It was sung by Sri. Manikumar. 
 The welcome address was presented by our teacher Sri.K.Raju Kumar.  The importance of the day was delivered by our teacher Kum. P.M.Dhivya.

 
 she explained the values of Yoga in English. Next P.T.Teacher Smt. Vijaya Nirmala gave the command and all the V.K.V. Students, teachers and parents were performed the Yoga in a very pleasant atmosphere infront of the Goddess Saraswathi Devi.
 

     
   They performed the number of Yogas such as Trikonasana,l Ardhaustransana, Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, Vakrasana and Savasana.

    





 










We had an eminent person Mann. Hanumantaraoji, addressed the audience.  He expressed his views about the benefits of Yoga.  It gives unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint between man and nature. 
  

It changes our life style and creates consciousness and concentration.  It should be practised with rhythm, harmonious and synchronize accompanied with pleasant song.  He instructed the students to practise Yoga in their life.  It eradicates all kinds of evil thoughts and cultivate peace of mind.
 

     Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by Kum.Ajitha.  The programme was concluded with our Kendra Prathana.

VKV KANYAKUMARI  STAFF TOUR TO ANDAMAN

 Andaman & Nicobar islands is a breath taking archipelago with exotic white sandy beaches, path line trees, beautiful mangroves & alluring tropical forest. On April 26, we set out our journey to Andaman & Nicobar islands, an ideal holiday destination and a place of azure beauty touches with more pleasure and adventure.

 It was such an amazing piece of  craftsmanship and heart wrenching to see too small prison cells with no windows where the martyrs were provided inadequate food with 2 glasses of water per day in solitary confinement. We also attended the “ Light and sound show” depicting the history of the jail wonderfully with excellent light and sound effect. We visited the Samudrika Navy Maritime Museum which had a spectacular display of shells, molluscs, aquatic life, social and tribal life of the people. 

We also paved our way to the Gandhi park located in the heart of the city which is just the most beautiful sight seeing place to relax and refresh ourselves. It has a big statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the centre, amusement ride where we had fun, nature trail around and boating where we rowed the boat ourselves. Such a amazing place of amusement.

 

               

     

      On our travel along the reserved forest, our pending desire had been fulfilled when we caught the sight of the aborigines the descendants of the original inhabitants of the forest. We were filled with awe and wonder but felt sad for not having a conversation or atleast a photograph.

 

                

    We also paid a visit to the oldest saw mill, established in 1883, by the Britishers  along the shore for easy transportation, the main occupation of the people of Andaman in later years. The saw mill still serves as a place of tourist attraction and continues to meet the continued need of sawn timber of the islands with new machinery.

 

                

  

  We crossed the islands by ferry. We were astonished to see the lorries, cars, buses taken to the other side in a ferry. We boarded the ferry and occupied a convenient place to get a clear view of the outside surrounded by glistening water.

 

                 

  We took a cruise to the Ross island, one of the most fascinating places. We saw the ruins of the deserted building covered by roots, a beautiful sight to look at. The cemetery gives an insight into the life of its british inhabitants.

 

               

     We visited four of our schools, located in a serene atmosphere with beautiful lawn & plants to adorn it. The teachers welcomed us with a smile & we introduced each others.

 

                 

   One of the most ever memorable event is the bike ride  in the sea which some of us felt to be a thrilling experience. We also got the divine blessing of Lord Muruga and goddess Kali with a special pooja.

 

               

    Altogether it was such a lovely piece of experience and trip lingering in our minds for ever. As per the proverb “Time and tide wait for none”

                We had to return to our homeland leaving our minds there.

 

                 

    We would like to thank Mann.Hanumantharaoji  for all the arrangements and our Principal Shri.S.Abraham Lingom for escorting us to the place which we have never dreamt of .No words to express our gratitude. Thanks a lot!
