Guru Purnima Celebration 2025

            Guru Purnima is a religious festival dedicated to offering respect to all the spiritual and academic gurus. It is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal and Bhutan by Hindus, Jains and Buddhist. This festival is traditionally observed to honour one’s chosen spiritual teachers or leaders. It is observed on the full moon day in the month of ‘Ashadha’ according to the Hindu calendar. It is also known as Vyasa Purnima for it marks the birthday of Vedavyasa, the sage who authored the Mahabharatha and compiled the Vedas.

            The auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima was celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya with great reverence and enthusiasm on 10th July 2025 at Vivekananda Sabhagriham in Vivekanandapuram. The event was organized to pay tribute to our teachers who play the role of gurus in shaping our lives with wisdom, values and knowledge.

v  The program was compered by R.Sinthuja, student of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. The program was initiated with an invocation, in praise of Gurus filling the atmosphere with a sense of devotion and it was sung by the students of 8th standard.

v  A warm and graceful welcome address was delivered by Bala Jasmitha, a student of 7th standard. She extended a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries, chief guest,special guest, teachers, parents and students who had gathered for this sacred occasion.

v  As the next part of the Guru Purnima celebration, the program continued with the soulful recitation of the Guru Stotram which was led by the school prayer group and followed by the students and teachers.

v   The inspiring speech on the importance of Guru Purnima was delivered by Meera, a student of 7th standard.

v  Following a melodious song, Ranson Joshina of 9th standard shared her thoughts and insights on the importance of the Guru in English.


Chief Guest Address:


o   The chief guest of the program Shri.Vikram Govinda Das Ji, Co-Ordinator of ISKCON temples Kanyakumari District, commenced his address with the chanting of the devotional hymn Hare rama, Hare Krishna setting a special spiritual tone for the gathering.

o   He highlighted the significance of the guru in One’s life, beginning with the very first gurus, our parents.

o   He emphasized that it is from our parents that we first learn by observing their actions and values.

o   He further eloborated that after parents,it is the teachers who play a pivotal role in shaping a student’s life.

o   He also made a thoughtful reference to the Acharyas who guided society towards spiritualism and dharma.

o   He concluded with a reminder that a true teacher leads by example and influences the hearts and minds of students by practicing what they preach.

v  Scholarships were distributed to meritorious students by Alumini of Vivekananda Kendra.

The teachers who secured centum result in the academic year 2024-2025were also honoured. 

 

Presidential Address:

            Mann.Hanumanta Rao Ji, Vice President of VRM & VK emphasized the crucial role the teachers only in shaping an individual’s life.

o   They not play guide our paths but also direct us on how to live, how to think and how to express both positive and negative emotions.

o   He highlighted that teachers manage both the learning and the emotional needs of students with great care and understanding.

o   They also contribute immensely to our development by moulding our personality, building our character and instilling us various disciplines such as humility, respect and courtesy.

o   He urged every student to honour and respect their gurus everyday in their lives.

            The vote of thanks was delivered by Selva Thanushka, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, teachers and students for making the Guru Purnima celebration a memorable one.

            A memento was presented to the chief guest as a token of respect and gratitude.

            The program was concluded with the Kendra Prarthana, making a peaceful and respectful end to the Guru Purnima celebration.
