International day of Yoga
is observed every year on 21st June to raise mass awareness about
the countless benefits of yoga through a global platform. Yoga is a spiritual
discipline that aims to harmonize the mind and the body. The theme of
International Yoga Day 2025 is yoga for “One earth and one Health” which
emphasises the deep link between personal wellness and the health of the
planet, reflecting the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudeva Kudumbakam’ the world is one
family.
11th International day of yoga was celebrated
by Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya on 21st June 2025 at Swami
Vivekananda Sabhagriham, in Vivekanandapuram at 8.00 AM.
High Lights of the event:
·
A total of students and Kendra
Karyakarthas participated
in
the event with great eagerness and enthusiam.
·
The event was anchored and smoothly conducted by
Kum.Babitha, Teacher,Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.
·
The event was commenced with an invocation by Sri.R.Manikumar,
Teacher, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya which created a peaceful and divine atmosphere.
·
The gathering was warmly welcomed by
Kum.K.Esai Reshma,Teacher, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.
Yoga Performance:
·
The highlight of the morning was the
dynamic yoga performance by the students and Kendra Karyakarthas showcased the
practical application of various asanas.
·
The session of yoga performance commenced
with a series of standing asanas including Pathrasana,
Vrikshasana,Padahastasana and Artha Chakrasana.
·
This was followed by a sequence of sitting
and prone asanas. Such as Pathrasana, Sasaangasana, Vajrasana,Pujangasana,
pavana Muthasana.
·
The students and participants performed
various pranayama techniques and practices such as Nadi shuddi and
Anulom-vidom.
·
The asana session was conducted by Smt.Jothi,Teacher,
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya with clear instructions.
·
This was followed by an enlightening talk
on the significance of the day delivered by
esteemed Dr.R.Sundarakumar , Teacher, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.
·
He emphasised the history of yoga and
benefits of yoga and explained how yoga is beneficial to improve our
concentration and extending our life span.
Chief Gues’st Address:
·
The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr.Kumaraswamy,
Headmaster(Rtd.),D.V.D.Higher Sec.School,Kottar who served as the chief guest
for the occasion.
·
He initiated his speech by sharing his
personal journey with yoga, recalling his memorable experiences during the
Vivekananda Kendra Yoga camp.
·
He emphasized that yoga is an invaluable
gift from India to the world.
·
He reminded that such holistic and life
enhancing practices could originate only in India.
·
He highlighted that the life enhancing
qualities of yoga, noting that consistent yoga practice leads to improved
health and even an increase in one’s life span.
·
He illustrated his point by referring to
the lives of great yoga sages such as Patanjali
the compiler of the yoga sutras and Thirumooler a Tamil siddha who is believed
to have lived for more that 3000 years through the disciplined practice of yoga
and meditation.
·
He also spoke about the global recognition
of yoga and proudly stated that International Yoga Day is now celebrated in 175
countries across the world and yoga’s power bring people together.
·
He expressed his hope that by the year
2047, India would emerge as a universal Guru, guiding the world through spiritual wisdom and yogic traditions.
Presidential Address:
·
The program was presided over by Mann.Nivedita Didi, Vice
President,VRM & VK.who addressed the audience with inspiring words.
·
She highlighted the spiritual and cultural
significance of yoga as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda.
·
She emphasized that the aim of Kendra is
to spread message of yoga as a way of life, rooted in Indian tradition and
values.
·
She also emphasized that the alumni of
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and Vivekananda Kendra remains connected with the value imparted to
them and understand the importance of yoga in daily life.
·
She informed that a yoga hand book on simple yoga would be
distributed to the students of v.k.v. in upcoming academic year. This would
help as a foundational platform for the students.
·
She concluded her speech by encouraging the students not to give up the
practice of yoga and urged
them to continue it regularly with dedication and sincerity.
As a token of
appreciation Mann.Nivedita Didi presented a memento to the chief guest
Dr.Kumaraswamy, acknowledging his gracious presence and inspiring address.
The vote of thaks was
gracefully delivered by Smt.Kalaivani, Teacher, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya
who expressed her
heart felt gratitude to all the dignitaries, Organizers, Parents, Students,
Teachers and all participants.
