TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION 2018

A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning.  Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber and future of our society.

            Every year in India, September 5^th is celebrated as Teacher’s Day to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan who was born on September 5,1888.  A great scholar, philosopher  and a Bharat Ratna recipient Dr. Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and second President of Independent India.  We have been celebrating his birth anniversary as Teacher’s Day to commemorate his work since 1962.

            Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Celebrated Teacher’s day with great enthusiasm.  On this day, teachers and students reported to school as usual but the usual activities and classes were replaced by activities of celebration.  Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya used to make Half a day for students from 6^th standard to 9^th standard to enact as teachers.  One hundred and sixty eight students enacted as students – teachers.  Ananya V. Sathish of IX standard, the student-principal and the student Vice Principal, A.Akilan of IX standard guided and directed the students teachers.  

     The Student-Principal, Ananya V. Sathish delivered her greetings to all the teachers.  No period was be conducted by the teachers. Students-teachers themselves dressed formally and conducted classes which used to be really fun.  The students-teachers were sent to different classes to deal with Junior classes.  Our Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Teachers sat along with the students and enjoyed the teaching of students-teachers.

            At the end of the celebration, A.Akilan, the student-teacher Vice Principal thanked all the teachers and praised the Principal, the Vice Principal and all the teachers.  Finally the student-teacher, S.K.Ramya of VIII standard and Dhanalekshmi of VIII standard shared their experience as teachers.

GOKULASHTAMI AND RAKSHABANDHAN FESTIVALS CELEBRATION

Gokulashtami or Krishna Jeyanthi marks the celebration of the birth of Sri Krishna.  Lord Sri Krishna was born on Ashtami day or the eighth day after Rakshabandhan during the Hindu month of Sravan.  Gokulashtami is one of the India’s most popular festivals celebrated all over India.  As per Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born in Madhura Jail on a dark, windy and rainy night.  The day is celebrated with great zeal and devotion.  It is believed that Lord Vishnu was reincarnated in the form of Lord Krishna.

                 The next celebration of the day is Rakshabandhan.  Rakshabandhan or Rakhi is celebrated on a full moon day in the month of Shravan in Hindu calendar. This festival is known as Shravan Purnima.  On the occasion of Rakhi, the bond of affection existing between brothers and sisters strengthened.

    Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya celebrated Gokulashtami and Raksha Bandhan in a grand manner.  The programme was started at 2.00 p.m.  It was compered by Ajay of 9^th Std.  “The prayer of righteous man is powerful”. We initiated our programme by an invocation sung by the students of VIII standard.  “Welcome is a basic rule of politeness and it signals that we accept the expression of gratitude”.  Sushma, 11^th std of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya extended her warm welcome to all.  “Without freedom of speech there can be no such thing as wisdom”.  Rishika Bharathi of XI standard delivered the speech about the importance of Gokulashtami and Raksha Bandhan.  “Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with his gracious presence”.  The students of VII and VIII standard sang a beautiful Lord Krishna song in sanskrit.

            The Chief Guest of the function, Dr.Krishna, M.Sc., B.Ed., P.hd., the first Chairperson of Amirta College of Engineering and Technology, Erachakulam addressed the gathering.  She appreciated the students as well as the teachers, who are an effective part of the society.  She explained that the Raksha Bandhan marked the relationship of brothers and sisters and the meaning of Rakshabandhan. 

       She quoted Swamiji’s powerful Chicago address which he started by “Sisters and Brothers of America”.  She advised the students what we expected from others, the same thing we have to give others.  

          Then she narrated the story of the Mahabharath Saguni who was the best example of evil and Lord Krishna who was the best illustration of Good.  She told the life is full of struggle and we should not leave our good principles in any circumstances.  She advised the students that we should observe and analyse ourselves.  We should be confident in all our activities.

 The students, Anish and Pratheeba from XII Standard tied the “Rakhi” to the Chief guest and the Principal.

            Sri Abraham Lingom, the Principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya presented the memento to the chief guest.  “Dance cherishes the moment”.

Kendra Vidyalaya were dressed as Radha and Krishna.  They gave a traditional touch to the celebration.  They danced to praise Lord Krishna.  They performed Uriyadi in an enthusiastic manner.

            “Gratitude creates a vision for tomorrow”.  Akilan of IX standard delivered the vote of thanks.  The programme was concluded at 4 pm by Kendra Prarthana.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2018

“Patriotism is a secret resource of a Successful society”

            The 15^th August is a very important day in the history of our country.  It was on this day in 1947 that India became Independent.  We won freedom after a hard struggle of national leaders and freedom fighters.  The Independence Day reminds us of those patriots who struggled and sacrificed their lives for our country.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya celebrated 72^nd Independence Day with great patriotic spirit on 15^th August 2018.  The celebration started at 8.30 A.M.  The programme was compered by S.R.Abbiramy of 11^th Standard.  On the happiest occasion, we initiated our celebration with an invocation “Vandhe Matharam” sung by VIII standard students.

 “Salutation to our national flag is our responsibility as a good citizen”.  Our National Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest of the function Smt.Anushiya Selvi, Former Joint Director of Employment and Training, Chennai. The gathering paid their salutations to our National Flag.  National Anthem was sung by all the participants of the function.  The pledge was lead by the student A.Labin of IX standard.

“Hospitality makes our guests feel at home”.  Kum. Kalaivani, the teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya extended awarm welcome to the dignitaries, teachers, parents, students and all the viewers. “Unity is Strength”, when there is a team work, wonderful things can be achieved.  The students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya performed mass drill and showed their team spirit.  “Music makes us feelpleasant”.  The students of VIII and IX standard sang a song of brave Queen Jancy Rani Laxmibai in our national language.  “The right speech is always effective”.  Aashika of IX standard shared the significance of Independence Day.

   “Speech is power, speech is to persuade, speech has an incredible power”.  We had an eminent personality Smt.P.Anushiya Selvi, former Joint Director of Employment and Training, Chennai as the Chief Guest of the function addressed the gathering.  She remembered the Father of our Nation, Mahathma Gandhiji and all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for getting independent from the Britishers.  She saluted the sacrifices of our Country’s military forces.  She proudly said that India proved the concept of unity in diversity.  She focused on the existence of unity even after lots of differences of cultural, social, physical, linguistic, religious and political etc.  but people live together with harmony and had the feeling of oneness.

 She advised the students that they should have the quality of unity.  She hopefully said that education brings the character of unity.  She explained that one of the greatest speeches of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s “Tryst with destiny”.  She illustrated the democracy quote of Former American President Abraham Lincoln.  She said that democracy provided us protection, Fundamental rights and Freedom of speech and the students should utilize it in a proper way.  She expressed that the villages are the backbone of our country and development of our country depends on the growth of the villages.  

 She expressed the courageousness of the women freedom fighters Jancy Rani Laxmibai in north and Velu Nachiyar in south.  She insisted that the students should be ready to fight for justice and should follow the idealogy of the leaders on the basis of spiritualism.  She said that non-violence was the tool of our independence.  She conveyed the message that the students should follow the path of non-violence.

 “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with blood of patriotism”. Mathisha of VIII standard delivered the importance of the day in Hindi.  Our Mann. Hanumantaraoji, Treasurer of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra as the President of our function addressed his presidential speech.  He remembered the economical, Agricultural, educational, cultural and spiritual level of our country before independence.  He exhibited proudly that the level of our present India is almost in the top and all countries appreciated the growth of India.

  He remembered that Sri.Aurobindo, the great Indian philosopher and nationalist was born on 15^th August 1872.  He insisted that the entire power and aspiration of every individual put together would help our Country’s growth.  He illustrated the life of Margaret Noble known as Sister Nivedita who was inspired by Swamiji’s ideology and worked for our Indian people and India.  He quoted that the character of individual defines the quality of a nation.  He explained the problems infront of our country like dishonesty, terrorism, corruption and other social evils.

 He focused that the problems should be solved by training up the youngsters in the method of character building.  He advised that the students should give reverence to the elders, parents, teachers, our country and our Flag with dedicative manner.  He expressed that the students should be ready to contribute their major parts to upliftment of our society and India.  He said that the students should be proud to belong to Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.  “Dance stimulates the mind, body and soul”. 

 The students of VIII standard gave a wonderful dance performance for a patriotic song.  “Drama is a shaped version of real life”.  The students of VII and VIII standard exhibited their patriotic spirit through a Tamil play “V.O.C”.

            “Physical fitness is key to a healthy body.  It is the basis of dynamic activity”.  The brave girls of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya showed their unity through pyramid.  “Talent wins games, but intelligence and perseverance win championship”. 

 The prizes were given to the merit students by our honourable chief guest.  The president of the function Mann. Hanumantaraoji presented the memento to the chief guest Smt. P.Anushiya Selvi.

  “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for future”.  Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. E.Sumathi, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya. 

            The programme ended at 10 AM with Kendra Prayer.
