Sports Day Celebration 2026

 Introduction

​The Annual Sports Day of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya was celebrated grandly on 25th February 2026, with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.

Inaugural Ceremony (Morning Session)

​The programme began at 9:00 AM with an invocation followed by the welcome address. The morning session of the programme commenced in the presence of the Principal Smt. G. Sariga, Vice Principal Sri. Sanjeev Rajan, and the Chief Guest Smt. Dr. Radhika, Professor, Rohini College of Engineering. The programme was grandly organized and co-ordinated by the Physical Education teachers, Smt. V. Vijaya Nirmala and Sri. K. Esai Reshwanth of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.

​The Olympic lamp was ceremonially lit, symbolizing unity and the true spirit of sports. The sports achievers Mathan of X Std, Akshaya Lakshmi of 8th, Akshaya of 8th, and Lucy Monica of XII A carried the Olympic torch and made a ceremonial round around the school playground, and it was lit by the Chief Guest Smt. Radhika, the Principal, and the Vice Principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.

​Following this, the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted. Three flags were hoisted respectively by the Chief Guest, the Principal, and the P.T. Teacher, marking the formal inauguration of the Sports Day celebrations. The entire programme was compered by T.N. Rithu of Class XI A.

Chief Guest Address

​The programme was addressed by Prof. Dr. Radhika, Rohini College.

​She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity given to her to address the gathering.

​She emphasized that sports are not merely about winning medals but about developing discipline and character.

​She added that the playground teaches equality without discrimination and helps students become responsible individuals.

​She concluded by advising students not to focus only on scoreboards but to build strong character and discipline through sports activity.

​She compared life to a playground where both success and failure are natural, and stated that true achievement lies in participation and perseverance.

​She illustrated an inspiring story of an Olympic athlete who, despite injuries, continued his race; his determination was appreciated for highlighting that participation and effort are more valuable than victory.

​She further explained that winners are not made instantly; success requires sacrifice, dedication, consistent practice, and self-improvement rather than comparison with others.

​She also shared the example of Paralympic high jumper Mariyappan, who overcame poverty and physical disability after losing his leg in an accident and achieved success through continuous practice and strong determination.

​She stressed that circumstances and difficulties cannot stop a person with perseverance.

​She highlighted the physical and mental benefits of sports, stating that sports improve health, regulate blood circulation, promote well-being, and create happiness through physical activity.


Presenting Memento

​The memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.

​Sports Events

​The event commenced with the symbolic release of doves representing peace and unity.

​Various athletic events and competitions were conducted for the students of different classes.

​The final matches for classes VIII to XII were held in front of the entire school.

​Students actively participated and displayed enthusiasm, discipline, and team spirit throughout the events.

Evening Programme and Prize Distribution

​The evening session of the programme commenced with an invocation rendered by the students of Std VII.

​The welcome address was delivered by R. Tharshini of Class XI Std, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, teachers, and students.

​Following this, the importance of the day was delivered by Vanisha of VIII B.

​The Chief Guest Sri. C.M. Chellathurai, Traffic Inspector, delivered his address.

Chief Guest Address (Evening Session)

​He appreciated and greeted the students for their active participation and spoke about the importance of road safety awareness.

​He emphasized that the collective support from society is necessary to prevent road accidents.

​He advised the students to encourage their parents and relatives to wear helmets and seat belts while travelling and to strictly follow traffic rules.

​During his speech, he narrated an incident highlighting the importance of safety awareness and responsible behaviour on roads.

​He stressed that the students should ride vehicles only after obtaining a valid driving license.

​He encouraged the students to spread awareness among their family members about road safety rules.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

​The Chief Guest Shri C.M. Chellathurai, Traffic Inspector, distributed certificates, medals, and prizes to the winners. The prize list was read out by Smt. Abinaya Lakshmi, teacher of V.K.V.


 

Conclusion

​The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Akshanth, a student of XI C.

​The memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Principal Smt. G. Sariga.

​The programme was concluded with Kendra Prarthana. The programme ended successfully in a vibrant and creative manner.

Mother's Day Celebration – 2026

1. Introduction:

​Mother's Day was celebrated at V.K. Vidyalaya in connection with the birthday of Sri Rama Krishna Paramahamsa. The program was organized to honour and appreciate the love, sacrifice and dedication of mothers in shaping the lives of children. The celebration was held at V.K. Vidyalaya with the active participation of teachers, parents and students.

​2. Competitions conducted for mothers:

​To make the celebration special, several competitions were organized for mothers:

​Rangoli Competition

​Kolaru Pathiham Reciting competition

​Games competition


​Cooking Competition

​Many mothers participated enthusiastically and displayed their talents. The program initiated with a prayer song by Smt.Krishna Poonkodi participant of the program.

​3. Master of Ceremony:

​Smt.Selvaraniconducted the program smoothly and announced the events. Welcome address was delivered by Smt.Maya Devi.

4. Chief Guest Address:

​The program was graced by the chief guests, Thiru Kalidasan, Teacher and Smt. J.L. Abirami, P.E.T Teacher, S.M.S.M. Hr. Sec. School, Suchindrum addressed the gathering.

​In her speech, she thanked all the teachers and parents for their efforts in shaping the future of the children.

​She praised that Kanyakumari is a blessed place where the three seas meet and asked the parentsto encourage their children to study.

​She emphasized that mothers are the right person to sow the seeds of discipline, knowledge and culture in their children.

​She quoted a Thirukkural which highlights the importance of education and discipline in shaping the character of children.

​She shared a personal experience that, when she was a student, she had once visited our school to participated in competitions and now she had returned as a teacher and chief guest which made her feel very proud and happy.

​She also narrated a historical incident from the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji. A mother once risked her life by climbing down a fort wall at night to reach her children, showing that a mother can do anything for the sake of her children. Even today, a temple stands there in Maharashtra, reminding people of a mother's courage and love.

​She advised mothers to follow three important practices:

​Speak kindly to the children, especially in the morning.

​Pay attention to their environment and friendships and listen to what they say.

​Tell them inspiring historical stories to guide their character.

​She also said that the human mind has thousands of thoughts everyday, so mothers must guide and motivate children to achieve their goals.

​She further stressed the importance of reducing excessive mobile phone usage among children and encourage them to develop the habit of reading books.

​She quoted Mahatma Gandhi who once said that if he had one crore rupees, he would build a library, highlighting the importance of books in shaping a person’s life.

​Presidential Address:

​The program was presided over by Mann. Priyamvatha Didi. She congratulated the organizers of the program.

​She stated that she would always be ready to co-operate with the organization in every activity.

​She motivated all the mothers to continue working together for the welfare and progress of children and society.

Prize Distribution:

​The participants and the winners of the competitions were honoured by the chief guest and Mann. Priyamvatha Didi.

​The Prize List was read by Smt. Shanthakumari teacher.

​Cooking Competition was conducted by the management to the teachers. The winners were awarded prizes.

Vote of Thanks:

​The vote of thanks was delivered by Smt.Anitha. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, all the dignitaries and all the participants.

​Sharing Experience:

​The participants mothers shared their valuable experiences. They spoke about the joys and challenges of raising children. The sharing of experiences by the mothers made the program more lively and memorable.

​Shanti Mantra:

​Finally, the program concluded with Shanti Mantra which was lead by the participants of the program.

Matru Puja Celebration Report 2026

Ø  Mathru Pooja celebration was initiated by an invocation by Smt.Nithya teacher.

Ø   Smt.Subbulekshmi teacher welcomed the gathering.

Ø   Importance of Mathru Pooja was explained by Smt. Maheshwari teacher followed by Paduka Pooja.




Presidential Address:

Ø  Dr.Anitha Subramanian initiated her speech by conveying her satisfaction on seeing paduka Pooja.

Ø  In her speech, she said

v  Say good morning to the children daily

v  If the children feel upset, should motivate the children

v  By doing paduka pooja for the mother’s, the parents blessed the children for securing good marks in their fore coming public examination.

v  Insisted both parents and students to reduce the usage of mobile phone.

 

Ø  At the end of the celebration, 6 students and 8 parents shared their experience.


Ø  Vote of thanks was delivered by Smt.Kalavathy teacher.

77th Republic Day Celebration Report 2026

1. Objective of the Programme

​The Republic Day celebration was organised to instil patriotism, constitutional values, discipline, cultural pride, and social responsibility among students, while creating awareness about national service, environmental protection, and career opportunities in the Armed Forces.

2. Programme Proceedings

​Invocation

​The programme commenced with a devotional invocation rendered melodiously by students of V.K.V., invoking divine blessings for the nation.

Unfurling the National ​Flag 

​The National Flag was unfurled by Mann. Rekha Didi (V.R.M. and V.K.) in the august presence of the Chief Guest, Subaidar Shri. C.P. Manikandan, Indian Army. The gathering paid respectful homage to the Tricolour.

Welcome Address

​The welcome address was delivered by Ashika (Class IX B), who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, teachers, parents, students, and all the Kanyakarthas of V.K.V.

Patriotic Song

​Students of Class IX presented a patriotic song in Hindi, creating a vibrant patriotic atmosphere.

​Importance of the Day

​T. Devi Varshana (Class XII B) spoke on the significance of Republic Day, emphasizing constitutional values, equality, and citizens' duties.

Mass Karate and Silambam Display

​Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya students presented a disciplined and energetic mass Karate display, highlighting physical confidence and self-discipline.


3. Chief Guest's Address

*The Chief Guest Subaidar Shri. C.P. Manikandan shared his 27 years of experience in the Indian Army.

​* He motivated students to develop energy, discipline, courage, and commitment.

​* Shared his training experiences and how perseverance and dedication shape a soldier.

​* He guided students on joining the Indian Army, explaining two entry levels: Soldier and Army Officer.

​* He elaborated on the National Defence Academy (NDA) Pune, stating that training should ideally begin from Class X, and students can appear for the NDA examination from Class XI.

​* He emphasized the role of teachers as role models and suggested that school management should initiate NDA-oriented guidance and training.

*He advised students to be obedient to elders, respect senior citizens, and maintain discipline in life.

*Highlighted the importance of environmental protection, speaking about rainwater harvesting and saving water for future generations.

*Emphasized the values of equality and unity, urging students not to discriminate based on race, religion, or caste.

*Encouraged students to believe in God, uphold moral values, and work with sincerity.

*The Chief Guest concluded his speech by leading the students through a four-point pledge, instilling a strong sense of responsibility, patriotism, discipline, and service to the nation.

4. Tamil Drama on 'Netaji'

​A powerful Tamil drama on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was enacted by the students, highlighting his patriotism, courage, and sacrifice for India's freedom.

5. Presidential Address

​Mananeey Rekha Didi, the President of the function, addressed the gathering and:

​extended her warm greetings.

* She highlighted that India is progressing while preserving its rich culture and traditions.

* She emphasized that students should feel proud of their motherland and give utmost importance to national values.

* She advised students to remain active, energetic, brave, and maintain good health by consuming healthy food.

* She stressed the importance of positive thinking, continuous knowledge enrichment, and self-development.

* She strongly advised avoiding unnecessary use of mobile phones, stating that excessive dependence affects concentration and character.

* She urged students to follow cultural discipline and spiritual values in their daily lives.

* encouraged students to develop a strong mindset of "I can do," stating that every individual has the capacity to succeed but laziness and lack of commitment hold them back.

6. Prize Distribution

​Prizes were distributed to students who excelled in various extra-curricular activities, encouraging holistic development. The prize list was read by Smt. Kalavathy Teacher.

7. Memento Presentation

​As a token of gratitude and respect, a memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Mann. Rekha Didi.

8. Vote of Thanks

​The programme came towards its conclusion with a vote of thanks delivered by Regasree (Class XI C), expressing sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, teachers, parents, students, and all the Karyakarthas of Vivekananda Kendra.

9. Conclusion

​The celebration concluded peacefully with the Kendra Prayer, leaving everyone inspired with a renewed sense of patriotism, discipline, and national pride.

Introduction:

​Vivekananda Kendra and Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari jointly organized a grand celebration of the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda along with the Annual Day of the Vidyalaya and National Youth Day. The programme was conducted with great reverence and patriotic spirit to honour the life, ideals and vision of Swami Vivekananda, the great spiritual leader and youth icon of India. The celebration aimed to inspire students to follow the path of courage, discipline, self-confidence to the nation.

​Inaugural Ceremony

​The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, symbolising the spread of knowledge and wisdom.

​This was followed by an invocation Vande Mataram invoking divine blessings for the success of the function. The programme was compered by Smt. P. Jeya, teacher of V.K.V Kanyakumari.

​Welcome Address

The welcome address was delivered by Smt. K.G. Sariga, Principal of V.K.V who warmly welcomed the chief guest Shri G. Senthil Kumar, Superintendent of Post Offices, Kanyakumari Division, Nagercoil, Special guest Shri P. Palvannan Deputy General Manager (Rtd) - ISRO Propulsion Complex, ISRO, Mahendragiri, Mananeeya Hanumantaraoji, Vice President of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra. Dignitaries, Parents, Teachers and students highlighted the importance of celebrating Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary as a day of inspiration for the youth.

Presentation of Annual Report

The Annual Report of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya was presented by Smt. K.G. Sariga, Principal of V.K.V. Kanyakumari She highlighted:

​* Co-curricular and cultural activities

​* Sports accomplishments

​* Value-based education initiatives

​* Community service activities

​The report reflected the institution's commitment to holistic education based on Swami Vivekananda's ideal.

Students of V.K.V rendered a melodious and inspiring group song, spreading the message of patriotism, unity and devotion to the nation.

Special Address:

The special address was delivered by Shri. P. Palvannan, Deputy General Manager (Rtd) ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri. In his inspiring speech he emphasized:

​*The importance of scientific temper and discipline

​*He highlighted the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and their relevance to modern students

*​He quoted Swami Vivekananda's message that students should always obey and respect their elders and teachers.

​*He explained the importance of self-reliance and moral courage in facing the challenges of the modern world.

​*He encouraged the students to be courageous and confident in their thoughts and actions.

​*He emphasized the need to learn more languages and appreciated the efforts of the school in teaching multiple languages to students.

​*He advised students to master basic skills such as good handwriting and strong language proficiency, which form the foundation of effective communication.

​*He spoke about the virtues of humility and simplicity and urged students to follow the simple and disciplined life of Swami Vivekananda.

​*He encouraged students to develop strong reading habits and to avoid unnecessary use of mobile phones which distract them from learning.

​*He stressed that discipline is essential for achievement and quoted the concept of discipline in Thirukkural.

​*He advised students to overcome shyness and develop confidence.

​*He also spoke about National Youth Day, celebrated on Swami Vivekananda’s Janma Diwas and explained that from 1985 onwards the nation has been observing this day to honour Swamiji's contribution to youth empowerment.

​*He referred Swami Vivekananda's historic Chicago address, he urged students to perform duties with purity and simplicity.

*He Concluded by encouraging everyone to serve their home and nation with sincerity and dedication.


​Prize Distribution:

​* Prizes were distributed to students for outstanding performance in academic and extra-curricular activities.

​* The prize list was read by Smt. Maheswari, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya.

​Vasista House won the trophy for E.A. (Extra Activities), received by House in-charges and toppers.

Chief Guest Address:

​*Shri. G. Senthil Kumar, the Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring speech.

​*He appreciated the philosophy and great thoughts of Swami Vivekananda.

​*He highlighted that education, character building, and selfless service are essential for the younger generation.

​*He emphasized avoiding unwanted distractions in technology and making proper use of it for growth.

​* He mentioned that with the development of technology and Artificial Intelligence, students should use their skills wisely.

 

Presidential Address:

​*In the Presidential adddress,Mananeeya Hanumantaraoji specified that Youth Day is celebrated in a grand manner all over the nation.

*He spoke about the life of Swami Vivekananda, born as Narendra Dutta and his spiritual transformation.

​* He emphasized that students should absorb ideas taught by teachers and focus on academic, spiritual, and character development.

​He stressed four important qualities: fearlessness, self-confidence, love for the nation, and respect for culture/tradition.

​He urged students to become true children of the nation and avoid intolerance and unnecessary anger.

​He reminded students that tolerance does not mean accepting wrong actions; they should stay away from negative influences.

​He quoted the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Holy Mother Sarada Devi.

​Presentation of Mementos:

​Mementos were presented to the dignitaries by Mananeeya Hanumantaraoji as a token of gratitude and remembrance

​The vote of thanks was proposed by Shri. Sanjeev Rajan, Vice Principal of V.K.V. Kanyakumari.

​He thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.

Cultural Programme:

​The cultural program presented by school children was colourful, vibrant, and highly impressive.



​Students performed Bharathanatyam, dramas, and dances with enthusiasm and confidence.

​The programme concluded with the Shanti Mantra.

​The celebration of Swami Vivekananda's 163rd Jayanthi and National Youth Day was a grand success.
