GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION
REPORT 2017-2018

The full moon day in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as Guru Purnima.  This day is celebrated as a mark of respect to the guru.  This day is celebrated in the sacred memory of the great sage Vyasa, the ancient saint who compiled the four Vedas, 18 puranas, the Mahabarata and the Srimad Bhagavath Gita.  The day is also known as Vyasa Purnima.



In our school, Guru Purnima day celebration was celebrated in a grand manner.  On that happiest occasion we initiated our programme by invocation sung by VIII Standard boys.  The welcome address was delivered by R.Abinaya of XI Standard.
     The importance of Guru Purnima in Tamil was presented by Sri Ram of IX Standard.  The girls of VIII Std sang a beautiful song about the Guru.  The importance of the day in English was presented by Vaishnavi of XI standard.

     Next Mann. Rekha Didi, Joint General Secretary of VRM & VK addressed the audience.  She expressed her views on Guru.  She said Guru plays an important role in moulding the life of a student.  She quoted Swamiji’s golden thoughts.  She illustrated the story of Ekalaiva as a good disciple.  She instructed the students to be dedicative to their teachers.  She reminded the word Shraddha which means faith in Guru.


                         

                          
     Kum. Ajitha, the teacher of VKV read out the scholarship name list and the rewards were given away by the Chief Guest.  The teacher who produced centum result in X and XII standard in the previous academic year were honoured by the Chief Guest.
           




                            

     The Chief Guest Swami Suradhavanam Murugadassji addressed the gathering.  He recalled the Tamil poet Rama Linga Adigalar.  He narrated the nature of human beings with a story.  He explained the philosophy of human nature.  He advised the students to be dedicated to their teachers.  He instructed the students to follow the principles of human.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Pradeepa of XI standard.  The programme was concluded by Kendra prayer.
